WHO'S ELIGIBLE FOR A MOTABILITY CAR WITH KGM?

The Motability Scheme is a pillar of support for individuals with disabilities, providing access to dependable and budget-friendly mobility. If you receive certain mobility allowances such as Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP) or War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS), you may be eligible to lease a KGM car through the Motability Scheme.

£750 NEW VEHICLE PAYMENT

The latest initiative of the Motability Scheme offers new customers a £750 New Vehicle Payment to facilitate the transition to a new KGM vehicle. To qualify, you must order your first vehicle before the end of 2024. But don't worry, if you're already a Motability customer, you will get it when you order your next vehicle, if you haven't received the payment yet. 

The New Vehicle Payment is available once per customer and can be used in two ways. You have the option to forward it to SERE Motors where it will help cover the cost of your Advance Payment. Should your Advance Payment surpass £750, you will be required to pay the difference to SERE Motors. However, if it falls below £750, Motability will send you the remaining balance after you've received your vehicle. This payment can only be used towards the Advance Payment and cannot be allocated towards adaptations or optional extras. Alternatively, if you choose not to send the payment to SERE Motors for your Advance Payment, Motability will send the full £750 directly to you within a few weeks of receiving your new vehicle.

FREE HOME CHARGEPOINT

If you're leasing your first fully electric car through the Motability Scheme, Motability will coordinate and cover the cost of a home chargepoint and standard installation. This ensures easy and hassle-free charging from the comfort of your home. In situations where installing a chargepoint is not possible, Motability will instead provide access to the BP Pulse network of charge points.

All electric cars available on the Motability Scheme come with the necessary cable for charging convenience. To be eligible you need to receive one of the following mobility allowances:

  • Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)

No, you don’t have to drive, instead you can add up to two named drivers on your insurance e.g. family members or a carer. Just as long as they only use the car for your benefit.

Yes, young drivers receiving the appropriate mobility allowance can qualify for a Motability car. Please note that you can only have one driver under 21 on your Certificate of Motor Insurance.

An advance payment is the upfront cost paid by the customer for a more expensive vehicle or optional extras not covered by the mobility allowance. The amount varies depending on the vehicle and specifications chosen.
